Review for Elephone S2 Plus

We tested today, one of the new phones to our online store, the Elephone S2 Plus. This smartphone is an entry-level phone for less than 200 euros with a large screen and especially a very special design. There are also smaller and is called the S2, it is almost the same product.

Let’s see the new kid home Elephone.

Unpacking and contents of the box:

The Elephone S2 Plus is very well packed in its elegant blue box as a gift you discover, and is accompanied by a leaflet in English (shame there is no other languages!) European charger with USB connectivity, two screen protectors (one for the screen and one for the back) and a silicone case.

The big feature of this device is good design. Indeed, the smartphone has a nice finish with a blue plastic shell ice mirror effect, which makes it a valuable asset for young women, making this phone a smartphone to an original model nice hands making and very valuable design. It is also very thin (about 7 mm) and also rather light.

Gripe Elephone chose to put a SIM and Micro drawer on the left. The latter includes two SIM slots (Nano + Micro) and a Micro SD slot, which is quite a bit messy. It would have been better to put two locations.

It has a MT6735P MediaTek processor, quad core and 1GHz, a small CPU along with a Mali-T720 graphics chip that can be a bit limited for the most demanding games.

This is a score of just over 20 000 points on Antutu, a score that may seem small, but the device is still very fluid under Android 5.1.

The S2 Plus is, for me, very easy to use and very responsive, I was amazed at its capabilities given its great price in the current market.

This model proves once again that there really is no need to buy a phone with a high rate with the latest components for a highly functional smartphone.

Screen

The touchscreen responds very well and is very nice especially for writing emails or SMS thanks in part to its large 5.5-inch slab.

The screen quality is very good, and quite bright.

A Full HD but in the end we would have necessarily preferred, even in HD, rendering is good.

Photo, Video and Audio

With a camera of 2 mega pixel front and 13.3-megapixel on the back, the camera is quite good for its category. The image is sharp, be it indoors or outdoors, and properly doing its job for a phone of this class.

Outdoor Photo

The video quality is also quite good with a clear and legible sound.

The speakers are very average but it is the case of the vast majority of low-cost smartphones, the sound is not clear or serious.

For calls, I found that the phone had a tendency to heat up rather quickly in his hands. A careful during long calls. Also, it is not always easy to understand his interlocutor during telephone conversations. Small problem for me who likes to spend long hours on the phone! The microphone is, meanwhile, very well

Software part

This is a Android 5.1, the latest version of Android that comes with the S2 Plus. I have not noticed overcoat, the version is simple and functional. They establish no specific applications. Basic useful applications already available, but it will download some such as Gmail for email. The Play Store is of course of the game to download thousands of applications and games.

As often, we find different Smart geatures, double tap etc … What improve the ergonomics of the interface.

No flow problem. Still, I used a lot, never off the phone. I found that the battery held the road well, and the phone was far from being discharged in the afternoon.

Network connectivity, GPS

Dual SIM and 4G, the network part of Elephone S2 Plus is fairly complete.

We will be happy to find that 4G is supported on all frequencies (800/1800/2100 / 2600MHz) and also on 3G (850/900/1900). The network is good with this phone easily and quickly to find the network.

I have repeatedly used the GPS, which remains to me to improve. The current location is quickly found, but the GPS sometimes seems to lose the route to dammage!

Autonomy

I was conquered by the battery of the Elephone S2 Plus. I tested it on a full day leaving the Internet, and it keeps its promises, it held until late night with no problem.

It can hold in idle more than 24 hours, and has a very good battery life, even during long telephone conversations.

Generally, when the battery is almost empty, it takes several hours to recharge fully, no presence of fast charging.
